I have a Mountune purchased Radium Engineering Catchcan system (both PCV and Crankcase) on the Fiesta ST. Lately , I’ve noticed a concerning amount of oil near the PCV catchcan.

The oil appears to be leaking out of the hose at possible both ends (or the PCV end and traveling down). I don’t have low oil, but it is more than enough to concern me. The catchcans get emptied pretty often via a petcock valve installed under my bumper. It is a nifty system and I use it often, so I don’t think they could be overflowing.

The hose that leads from the PCV valve to the catchcan has nothing tightining it (no clamps) and is squeezed between two other rigid hoses, so two options may be that it is backing up due to constriction or it is simply loose (seems kinda loose, but idk).

Maybe I should just take it in? I am no expert and I am not allowed to work on cars in my garage or driveway.

In the photos below, red markings are the ends of the hose from the PCV valve and yellow is the dipstick.

It looks like it’s using AN pushlock fittings? If so id say swap on actual pushlok hose, they are rated to keep a seal waaaay above anything thatd happen here.

Sounds like a Subaru problem. Also I could never ever buy a house where I can’t work on the car! I know you don’t do that sort of thing anyways but that was a priority in finding a place to rent for me.

I need a catch can for my subaru. I'd imagine it's just the fittings leaking on yours but wouldn't know without looking closer.

If the “concerning” qu antity of oil is what we see in the picture then its definitely not concerning (except for a detailing point of view), even with a drip of oil leaving small pools on the floor it can take months before you loose a liter (usual quantity between max an mini on most 4 cylinders).

Doesn’ t mean that it’s normal but that its not risky in any way for the engine, seems like its oil vapor that is sprayed, you could try to clean everything and strap a towel or tissue around the part that seems to be the culprit then you will be able to pinpoint the exact location of the leak.

Its possible that its simply the hose of the first image that would need a hose clamp (or a zip-tie or some duck-tape might do the job).

Not allowed to work on cars in your garage? What kind of fuckery is that?

OBVIOUSLY what you need to do is replace the hoses with  copper pipes and soldier them in place.

No one knows that you're working on cars if you close the garage door

Some catch cans need to be drained periodically

Yeah, I drain them both peroidocally, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference

Seems like a normal “wetting” at the end of PCv hose. Vapors will find their way past the seal and condense. I say wipe it and forget about it.
